Drag-and-drop bead builder: place beads from a picture palette into any slot, in any order
Description
We make handmade jewelry and only offer our own beads and pearls. Customers cannot upload their own images. We need a bracelet builder where the customer designs the bracelet by choosing beads from a fixed range that we define.
What Customily offers today
We have seen the birthstone bracelet demo. The customer picks a stone for each position, filling the slots from left to right, and the same stone can be used more than once. When all slots are filled, they can swap stones one by one. This works for 3-5 charms.
What is missing for our use case
Our bracelets have many more positions. Example: a standard bracelet with 22 black beads, where the customer changes all or only some of them. For that we need:
The customer can choose any slot first, in any order, from the start. Not only left to right.
Drag and drop: the customer drags a bead from the picture palette and drops it on a slot on the bracelet.
A slot can be changed directly by selecting it (or dropping a new bead on it), without having to remove the old bead first.
Works on mobile with touch, and the live preview updates immediately.
Beads of different sizes and shapes.
Order data and price
The order must list which bead is in which position, so we can produce the bracelet correctly.
Price changes depending on the beads chosen, either per bead or per bead type.
Why it matters
The current flow is fine for a few charms, but with 20+ positions it becomes slow and hard to use, and it looks unprofessional. A visual drag-and-drop builder is what customers expect for bead bracelets, and many other Shopify customization apps already offer it. Without it, Customily is not a realistic option for us beyond the one product we already use it for.
